Recently I’ve played around with a few different post formats which have enjoyed some positive feedback, so I decided to try and develop this further, and dedicate Thursdays to random banter. This Thursday I’ll be doing the Currently I Am tag because … well, why not.Β I came across this tag a while back but I wanted to give credit to Things Helen Loves for making me aware of it, and getting me to quit overthinking in favour of just jumping on the bandwagon.

I haven’t done tags before as I was worried they might be somewhat boring and repetitive, but having given this more thought, I have come to the conclusion that you can always put your own spin on things, and to be honest, it’s just fun to share. Aren’t we all here to do exactly that? So here goes:

Currently I Am…

Missing:

Nature. I love living in the city, but if I go too long without laying my eyes upon some rolling hills or a tranquil lake, I start to feel a tug towards the great outdoors.

Wishing:

Each day could have at least double the hours. There is so much I want to do that sleeping seems like a terrible inconvenience.

Wearing:

All black everything. Silk shirt from & Other Stories, skinny jeans from Asos and trainers from Geox.

Listening to:

Pink Floyd. I went to see the exhibition dedicated to their art and music at the V&A this weekend and I’ve been hooked on Comfortably Numb ever since.

Admiring:

The Director of my department at work. She’s an incredibly switched on, intelligent and fun young woman with a lot of charisma. It’s inspiring how she can command a great deal of respect while keeping a grounded and light attitude.

Using:

Oils and butters. Argan oil as a moisturiser, coconut butter as a make-up remover and for teeth whitening, and tea tree essential oil for banishing blemishes. A great blog to follow for advice on all this and more is Organic is Beautiful.

Feeling:

Like there isn’t much I can’t do. Right now work is energising, my personal life and projects are exciting, I’m about to go on holiday to one of my dream destinations, and straight after that I’m moving to a new flat, so life is generally pretty good.

Appreciating:

Having a voice in the blogosphere. I have finally entered a long period of continued focus on my blog and really sticking to a writing routine. Seeing the resulting engagement is really rewarding!

Loving:

Planning my future trip in the United States. Some people find creating a detailed itinerary a hassle, but for me researching a new destination makes up the best aspect of indulging one’s wanderlust.

Watching:

Game of Thrones. I feel like there is no need to explain further.

Reading:

“Women Who Run with the Wolves” by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. A book I would highly recommend to anyone interested in female psychology.

Craving:

Japanese. I haven’t had enough matcha in my life in the last few weeks so I think that means it’s time to hit my favourite go-to, Tombo.

Not sure of:

What the next couple of years hold. I’m considering doing another year of study but I haven’t fully fleshed out the plan, and I don’t even know where in the world I might go next!

Determined to:

See a few more new destinations before the year is out. So far in 2017 I’ve travelled to a new place each month, so I’d love to keep that going.

Regretting:

Not putting more effort into learning the guitar earlier in life when I had time on my hands. It’s not impossible to fit it into my schedule now, but it would have been nice if I’d been able to make some progress already.

I’d love to hear your feedback on this post, as well as any thoughts on the concept of Thursday banter in general! As always, hoping this honest post will inspire others to share.

Thanks for reading,

xx Niya

  1. Thanks for the mention! Hope you enjoyed the tag, it is a nice way to get to know a little more of the person behind the blog, I think.
