On a sunny Saturday morning my three girlfriends and I went on a trip to the zoo. It was something I wanted to tick off my list of things to do before going back to the UK, so my girlfriends had to oblige, albeit they arrived an hour late.
After our small flock had finally gathered, we continued our trip down memory lane.
The marmoset monkeys were ignoring us, so naturally, one of my *completely sane* friends decided to attract their attention by making loud and very weird monkey sounds in close proximity to the fence of their cage, eventually scaring off all the little kids who were innocently enjoying themselves.
The monkeys scared us in turn when all of a sudden they went from being completely oblivious of our existence to rushing towards the fence and communicating back.
Our next encounter was much friendlier. Dessi, a female brown bear, was waving at the onlookers.
However, only later did we realise, that Dessi was only putting up an act to distract us all while the male bear was trying to make a run for it. Not an altogether pleasant thought…
We moved on to the more relaxed grazers.
When we were ready for some more excitement we swung by the big cat section of the park…
… but it turned out they weren’t in the mood to entertain us much more than the herbivores.
So we monkeyed around some more and made our way back to the city.
We went to our favourite rock club where we had a few Bloody Marys and some unexpected shots (compliments from the bar).
It was a great day to end summer on. I waved goodbye to my hometown and started packing for my new home-to-be.
